Littlewoods July 2015

I am old fashioned; I miss the excitement of the new catalogue the size of an encyclopedia arriving. Leisurely flicking through the first time scanning the pages, maybe folding back the corners if something really caught your eye. Then going back through, but this time with paper and pen at the ready.

Now you just get an email, maybe a flyer through the letterbox, alerting you to the new arrivals. And all your browsing has to be done online. Some things don’t change though; clothes usually look better in the pictures!

All of the clothes I ordered from Littlewoods work on a flat chest, but there are only a couple of stand out items.

Colourblock Zip Detail Top

Verdict: I picked this top as it had an asymmetrical design which should suit you if you have had a single mastectomy and it looked flattering on Colleen. On me it looks a bit dull despite the contrasting colours and adjustable zip feature.

Verdict: The embellished shoulders add really pretty decoration to your collar bone; you can also just about see in the photos that there are loose chiffon layers over the tummy area.

Embellished Cami

Verdict: Great little summery top with pretty crochet decoration and flattering A-Line shape which flares out from the bib.

Jersey Embellished One Shoulder Top

Verdict: Another top I chose for its asymmetrical design; the lovely draping jersey fabric means this would also really suit a flat chest as well though.

Metal Detail Top 67UGQ13

Verdict: Another great top for an evening out with gorgeous fabric gathered at the metal necklace; really flattering on a flat chest and for skimming over tummy and hips

Printed Smock Dress

Verdict: I know 70s boho is everywhere this year but this dress is probably taking it a step too far! Having said that it ticks the flattering flat boxes: pattern across the chest, contrasting sleeves and flared design.

Sleeveless Fan Print Pussy Bow Blouse

Verdict: This top is straight cut so is more fitted, however its light fabric, unstructured collar, bold patttern and pussy bow detail make this a very flattering top which would look great tucked into jeans or office skirt/trousers for work.

Lace Yoke Edge to Edge Top

Verdict: This top is only fastened at the front by the two ties that you can see in the photo so this would need to be layered over a cami or vest top unless your feeling very daring! The lace yoke adds decoration and the light fabric floats nicely from the gathered seam below.

Paisley High Neck Top

Verdict: I really like this top; it has a gorgeous pattern, a shirred waistband teamed with a pleated neckline which allows the satiny fabric to create volume and it shows off your shoulders. It’s also great to be able to wear this style of top without having to worry about bra straps!

Check Print Shirt Dress

Verdict: This shirt dress has darts, but the fabric is light enough that these do not affect how it hangs on a flat chest. The single breast pocket design would particularly suit you if you have had a Left sided mastectomy.

Jersey Aztec Frill Bardot Day Dress

Verdict: This ticks the boxes (pattern, elasticated waistband and frill) but it just didn’t look that special on me.

Jersey Retro Floral Tea Dress

Verdict: I ordered this in a 12 which seemed to be cut on the large side; I think this would look even nicer in the correct size (I think I am a size 11 at the moment!). Pretty fabric, pleats at the waist and a wide bodice are all very flattering.

Fringe Tie Dye Maxi Dress

Verdict: A tie-dye, fringed maxi dress. Three trends ccovered in one go! The problem that I have with maxi dresses is finding the size that fits my small chest and larger waist; this size 12 felt a bit loose around my chest, but this could be sorted with a few stitches and otherwise it fitted really nicely.
