So far this year’s autumn vibes include florals, animal prints, and polka dots; all in autumn shades of mustard, khaki, burnt orange, reds, and browns. Bold, and ditsy prints are perfect for single and double flat chests, as well as when wearing prostheses, as prints help balance any asymmetry, add interest and movement, as well as decoration.
I started with New Look (where the lighting in the changing rooms was awful, sorry!).
This burgundy leopard print dress is light so drapes really nicely. It’s frilled cap sleeves add width across the shoulders, and it has a gathered waist to create volume and movement.
This khaki tiger stripe blouse has breast pockets which add depth and volume. Shown here buttoned up, tucked in, and also looser tied at the waist to add more movement. The black cord skirt also from New Look.
This black and white zebra print jumpsuit has a deep v-neck and wide shoulders which create width across the chest (worn with a black vest top underneath). It also has a gathered waist to create volume.
This black and white polka dot dress, like the jumpsuit above, has a deep v-neck so adds width across the chest (layered with black vest top). It is in a light cotton fabric, and has a gathered waist so it hangs beautifully. I chose a size larger than I normally wear to add extra volume.
Last up from me is an embroidered blouse with frilled yoke to decorate your chest, and large gathered sleeves which may fit nicely if you have lymphoedema.
If you want summer brights, how about this crop top, perfect for the gym, the beach, or layering under v-neck tops and dresses. Jayne got this in Pink and says, “They have pockets so are perfect if you wear breast forms, but you can also wear them happily without. They have a huge selection.”
Pamela found this great layer top in New Look. Light and cool cotton with layered frills makes this the perfect top!
And more frilled layers… Liz bought these dresses in the M&Co sale. The ove lapping layers mean these dresses would hang well on both single and double flat chests and would balance out any asymmetry.
Sally-Anne always looks effortlessly cool, and this outfit of black dress, plimsolls and necklace at the recent Nina Simone prom is no exception. Sally-Anne says, “My Cos dress in the sale, drapes perfectly.”
Paula bought this really pretty top from Joules and says, ” It has a nice shape and is heavily patterned across the chest.”
Rosemary is looking fabulous in this jumpsuit from Quiz. Rosemary says, “I love Quiz clothing: generous sizes and fab styles for flatties.”
