OK, here goes…
As summer approaches I thought I ought to find some mastectomy swimwear for those of us who are flat. I would never post photos of myself like this usually but maybe this is what they mean when they talk about my ‘new normal’! As you will see, I am wearing these cozzies over the top of black leggings to maintain my thighs’ privacy.
I have split the swimwear into swimming costumes for the pool on this page and holiday here.
The best I found were by Zoggs and Arena as they had several styles without foam cups and underwire with flattering patterns. I ordered mine from La Redoute and Simply Be, although I am sure there are plenty of other stockists. If I were going to order them again I would go for the next size up as several were a little short under my arms, so would rub on my scars.
I have read on Flat&Fabulous’ Facebook page that some ladies have successfully cut the foam cups out of their pre-mastectomy swimsuits, so this might be worth a try, although I would recommend trying it on an old one first!
Zoggs Floral Navy Summer Bloom
Zoggs Rhodes Hi Neck with Zip Up Back
Arena Asymmetrical Floral (foam lining not noticable once on)
Arena Grey Orange Print
Arena Black and Orange Print
Arena Sunburst (odd cut-out mesh attached to elasticates support, but not noticable once on)
Adidas Stella Sport from Next (quite a tight fit; I recommend ordering one or two sizes larger than normal)

Have you ever tried the tankinis? This is the route I’ll have to go because of my Buddha belly!
Yes, same rules apply. Don’t be put off by foam cups and inserts, they can still work for us. But, there is no such thing as a ‘bikini body’ so please don’t feel like you have to cover up your tummy. Wear whatever you like as long as you feel comfortable!
